Bird TLC, a busy place

I stopped by today and the place was hopping. There are ducklings, Robbins and magpies galore. 4 Eagles, 6 Ravens, 2 Great Horned Owls and a Sea Gull. Besides the resident birds, I think that was it. Calls were coming in from people who have found birds injured or orphaned. I bet there are more there since I left. A nice lady also donated a cooler full of salmon.

Brain Damage

Went into Bird TLC today to see what was new and how everything was going. Took my camera along to maybe take some pics of some new residents. DEAD BATTERIES!! I guess I'll go back tomorrow.

Cordova Eagle

Ruth and I picked up a Bald Eagle at the airport last night that was flown in from Cordova. Thanks to ERA Aviation and Alaska Airlines Cargo for their support. Terry Webb in Cordova sent it to us. This bird was found near an area where salmon was spawning and where there were plenty of eagles. It was soaking wet, laying on it's stomach with his wings spread. Barbara Doak meet us at Bird TLC. We looked it over and there were no apparent injuries so we bedded it down for the night with fresh water and food (salmon). Saturdays crew will check it out a little more.

A question came to me in e-mail. There's no place to make comments. Well yes there is. If you look at the bottom of the post, it will tell you how many comments. Example  0 comments, and it will be underlined. Click on comments and it will take you to the page to do so. Anonymous post are not allowed so you will have to register. Harriers

These guys were found too close to the Palmer Airport. They are being cared for by one of our falconer friends, Tim Sell. He took them home to "hack out". Hacking is a method of raising young raptors so that they don't assiciate humans with food and can become independent at their own rate of speed.

Our web site is now certified by SafeSurf, ICCS & ICRA. What does that mean? You can check out the links on our main page to find out. But what it really means is that it's safe to surf our site without worry of pornography or any of that kind of stuff.

Pictures are back

Our pictures are back. Go to the pictures page http://www.birdtlc.net/pics.html on the web site and click on the Bird TLC logo to link to the albums. My son Ryan turned me onto Photobucket.com. Our pictures will be posted there at no charge. It also frees up a lot of space for other stuff. They also load faster. I have more pictures to put on it still and as usual I'll be taking more. Volunteers needed

Sunday's crew is real short of volunteers. Barbara & Ruth are usually there. Ferg, Lisa and myself helped them out today. However the crew needs some more permanent people to help out. Business is steady, there were plenty of birds to feed and water. 3 more birds came in while we were there and there are plenty of chores that needed to be accomplished.
