We have a Tundra Swan in the clinic now. It was found a little north of Anchorage in Wasilla with a bloody left wing. Unfortunately it had to have the wing amputated at the elbow. After some rehab time, Cindy will be looking for a permenate home for this bird.

It's so sad to see birds injured this time of year! After making it through migration and the winter and all, it just doesn't seem fair.
I searched and searched for Tundra Swans this winter and was so happy to finally find them. Hope this one finds a home.
What kind of home would this bird need? Can it go to a private home?
Laura - no it doesn't seem fair at all.
Robin - This bird would need a home for the rest of it's life. It can only go to a place that is permited through USF&W and the recieving states Wildlife Management agency. It must also prove to us that they are capable of supporting this bird.
Too bad you can't teach a swan to sit on a glove. What a presentation THAT would be, huh?
Susan - I wouldn't mess with that presenter. That bird weighs about 9 pounds.
