This Great Gray Owl came to us from Copper Center. He was found on the side of the road not flying. We speculate that it was hit by a car. After examination and an x-ray he was found to have a fractured right wing. It'll spend some time with us at Bird TLC. He should be releasable later this summer.

Glad to see "Hootie" is doing well! He/she?? smacked into our car door on May 30th as we were driving down the highway just south of Copper Center. He hit the car so hard we were surprised he survived. I suppose he was chasing dinner and just wasn't expecting a car to get in the way. We stopped and helped him off the road. Eventually we were able to coax Hootie into a dog crate that was used to transport him to Wrangell-St. Elias NP and eventually to the rehab center. Thanks for the great work you do! Please keep us updated on Hootie's progress.
"Hootie" looks like he found a great place to be cared for and recover. How kind of khoeffner to stop and assist this beautiful owl. I look forward to updates on his recovery, and pics of his release.
Hope he does well, Dave.
