Boreal Owl release

Dr Karen Higgs released a boreal owl at Kincaid Park today. It was originally brought to Bird TLC after being hit by a car in Anchorage last year.

The weather was sunny perfect, but chilly because of some wind.

The boreal owl didn't mind the chill though.

It flew to the closest tree and checked things out for a while. Then it moved to a spruce tree for more coverage.

It was a good day!

Goose, duck, owl

On Saturday we had the right patients, so Dr. Karen had a tube feeding class. Both a Canada goose and a mallard required some tlc.

It amazes me the people that step up to learn to do these things.

Our boreal owl has some serious eye injuries. Time will tell if it gets to see again.

What awesome volunteers!

Owl About a Latte a big success

With the help of a lot of friends, Owl About a Latte was a fun success.

We had a Great horned Owl, Boreal Owl, Short Eared Owl and a Snowy Owl for all to visit with.

In between presentations, Chelsea of Terra Bella's Bakery & Cafe' Educated us all on bird friendly organic coffee. We all got to try some out too, that's my favorite part.
Thanks to all who came and thanks to all that helped put it all together.
